"Joyner is as mercurial a songwriter and performer as one is likely to find. He's a true outsider; he not only won't come in from the cold, but he can't; he's gone too far by now. And the nebulous edge he walks, crawls, and stumbles upon is the blood-red stiletto of the human heart."

Often credited as the godfather of the fertile Omaha scene, Simon Joyner phones it in from Omaha, NE. He counts among his biggest fans Bright Eyes, Beck, John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats, and John Peel. Peel even once played Simon's 'The Cowardly Traveler Pays His Toll' from beginning to end on air, an honor only ever extended to one other album, Bob Dylan's 'Desire'.
