Vincent Whelan phones it in from Bensalem, PA. In Eyes For Volume I hear echoes of my favorite mid-90s lo-fi heroes, from Robert Pollard to Lou Barlow to another Philly native, Lettuce Prey's Mike Lenert. Similar exuberance, similar emotional timbre, similarly getting it just right. You'd think dudes with guitars would get old after a while, but when all the pieces line up the right way like they do with Eyes For Volume, you can't do better.
