Chelsea Wolfe phones it in from Sacramento, CA. Harrowing and claustrophobic goth-folk that follows Marissa Nadler down the same rabbit hole she was digging until she gave up reverb. Chelsea digs that hole deeper, breaking into the kind of cavernous, dark space found in 'House of Leaves' or Murakami novels, peopled by Lord knows what dark shapes and apparitions. Narcotic and fantastical. At times, the songs gallop along like night mares; at others, they trundle like a broken music box or haunted gramophone. There is light, too- a shrouded moon- but when you wake up, you won't know where you are. So good!
